Novice Class

Novice Class open to all new or inexperienced racers, Stock 50cc Moped or scooter, Exhaust Mods Ok

Mopeds

Stock +

Mopeds 50cc Max (limited to stock or OE replacement cylinders.) 15mm Carb Max, Stock transmission (replacement shoes and stiffer springs Ok), Ignition mods allowed, Any exhaust.

Non Variated

Single and Two Speed Automatic Mopeds, 75cc Max.

Variated

Single and Dual Variated Mopeds, 75cc Max.

Unlimited

Mopeds 99cc Max, Automatic Transmission, Custom frame okay if passed inspection.

Scooters

Limited Auto

Automatic Transmission Scooters, 75cc 2 Stroke / 110cc 4 Stroke Max, 23mm Carb Restriction

Small Frame

Manual Transmission scooter, Max size for tuned kits is 136cc, vespa’s limited to stock stroke cranks. Max carb 25mm at race directors’ discretion, stock 150 and under bikes may run in this class

Large Frame

Manual Transmission Scooters, 225cc Max 35mm Carb

Unlimited Auto

Automatic Transmission Scooters, 100cc 2 Stroke / 199cc 4 Stroke Max

Rider Equipment

  1. Leather gloves that cover the wrist must be used.
  2. Protective boots that are above the ankle.
  3. Full-face helmet with face shield.
  4. Racing leathers or Kevlar suit are recommended, or sufficient coverage so that no exposed skin is visible.
  5. Spine protectors are highly recommended

Inspections
All machines MUST pass a technical inspection by the appointed Tech Inspector and have the appropriate decal from the Tech Inspector visible on the front of the machine before participating in any practice or race.

In the event of a crash, visually inspect your bike for any damages, you may continue the race only after you have determined it is safe to do so. Any crashed vehicle is subject to re-inspection before returning onto the track.

  • Tires and Rims
    • Bent or otherwise damaged wheel rims will not be
      allowed.
    • Only pavement or road racing type tires are
      permitted. Excessively worn or otherwise unsafe tires,
      in the opinion of the Tech Committee, may not be
      used.
  • Brakes
    • Brake cables must not be frayed or housing damaged.
    • Each brake, front and rear, must be capable of
      coming to full lock when applied independently
  • Exhaust Systems
    • A working silencer MUST be fitted to the exhaust system.
    • The rearmost tip of the exhaust system should not
      protrude more than 4″ beyond the back tire.
    • The exhaust system must be securely mounted and
      free from defects.
  • General safety
    • All sharp/cut bodywork must have edges rolled or covered with secure rubber or plastic edging.
    • Frames shall be free of cracks.
    • All welds shall be structurally sound.
    • All glass and plastic parts that may break or shatter should be securely taped (fairing bubbles excepted).
    • Fairings must always clear the front tire, regardless of suspension or steering aptitude.
    • All batteries must be securely mounted on the machine, free of leaks, and positioned such that in case of crash, damage to the battery may not occur
  • Tanks
    • All tanks, whether for fuel, oil, or coolant, must be leak free and securely mounted.
    • Fuel tanks should be fitted with readily accessible shut-off valves in working order.
    • Positive clamping is mandatory on all oil, coolants, and fuel line connections. Slip fits are not permitted. Stock wire type clamps are OK.
  • Handlebars and controls
    • All controls must operate effectively and reliably.
    • All foot controls must be free from sharp or ragged edges.
    • Throttles should be self-closing.
    • All machines should have an operating kill switch.
    • Open tubing at the end of the handlebar must be plugged to avoid injury in a crash.
  • Fuel
    • No fuel may be carried on any scooter except in tanks securely mounted for that purpose.
    • Nitrous oxide is not allowed.
  • Water-cooled bikes
    • Water-cooled bikes cannot use antifreeze/glycol, they must use straight water or a product like Water Wetter.
  • The following equipment should be removed:
    • License plate and mounting bracket.
    • Center and side stands
    • Mirrors
    • Turn signals (flush mount may be duct taped)
  • Protective Apparel/Equipment
    • All riders’ protective apparel and/or equipment should be
      inspected and passed by an inspector before a rider’s
      machine may be passed.
  • Appearance of Equipment
    • All scooters and mopeds competing should have
      the appearance of a properly prepared racing vehicle
      when presented for tech inspection.
    • Engine cases must be clean of excessive oil and road
      grime accumulation.
